A Call To Prayer
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. -Luke 11:9
One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. -Luke 6:12
God is calling his church to prayer! Prayer is the way that we communicate and establish a relationship with God the Father. Our relationship with God is predicated on how often we’re talking to Him. We can look at this relationship in terms of strength. Essentially, when we pray, we’re connected to God! When we’re connected to God, we’re strong! However, when there is an interruption in our connection to God, we’re weak. Through the spirit, we’re already connected to God, but how do we ensure that we stay connected? This is where prayer comes in! Sometimes, we think too much about the prayer, that we can become discouraged about prayer altogether. We should never be intimidated or frustrated with prayer. In fact, if we ever draw a blank in prayer, we can start with a simple prayer of thanksgiving, gratitude, and/or love. Perhaps, a good habit is to make God the first person we speak to every morning. There is something special about going to God first in prayer! Whenever we prioritize God in prayer first, is has the power to govern our day!
One thing we must keep in mind as we pray, is to pray in Jesus’ name and to God’s will! Essentially, God the Father will not grant any prayer that doesn’t coincide with Him! Further, God won’t give us anything where He won’t be recognized. Sometimes, we pray for blessings, without a prayer for God’s hand to keep us. This is a selfish way to pray. As Christians, we must understand the responsibility of prayer. Our responsibility is to pray persistently and passionately for God’s will to be done. Persistence and passion doesn’t equate to length of time, instead it refers to our authenticity. Authenticity in prayer is key! Too often do we have our hands out, but not our hearts! We must understand the true call to prayer as one of relationship and connection! Through this, will experience God’s power!
