A Mind To Work

So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work. -Nehemiah 4:6

Our minds express who we are! Despite of the circumstances we find ourselves in, we have a duty to see things through with a sound mind. We have a tendency to scatter after a blessing. When we consider the many instances where Israel scattered after God’s blessing, we see an unfortunate reflection of ourselves. When we do this, we begin to walk outside of the parameters of safety. That safety is God Himself. It wasn’t until Israel was in captivity that they began to remember God’s promises.

As we consider this text (Nehemiah 4:6), we observe that Nehemiah’s mind was on the Lord. If it wasn’t on Him, it would have never come to pass. When our minds are set on Him, it enables us to work! Oftentimes, we succumb to the distractions that demand our minds away from God. However, it’s important to understand what these distractions are. Sometimes, these distractions aren’t meant for our attention, but for our elevation! Our mind must be elevated in order to experience a new level in Him.
